1. What Clawgnition is
Clawgnition is a hosted, end-to-end-encrypted home for your centraid vault — the safe copy of your notes, files, and memory that lives off your device. Your data is encrypted on your own machine before it ever reaches us, so we only ever receive and store sealed bytes we cannot read. You point centraid (or another compatible local-first app) at Clawgnition as its hosted storage target; there is no proprietary SDK and no Clawgnition code running inside your app.
Clawgnition is pre-launch, early-access software. Features, storage quotas, and pricing described here and on the rest of this site are subject to change without the notice period a mature product would give.
2. Accounts and API keys
You need an account to use Clawgnition. API keys issued to your account (formatted
sk-claw_...) authenticate your storage client to the gateway. You are
responsible for keeping your keys — and your encryption keys — confidential and for
all activity that occurs under them. If an API key is compromised, revoke it from the
dashboard and generate a new one — we cannot do this for you without you telling us.
3. Acceptable use
Don't use Clawgnition to violate the law, to abuse or attempt to circumvent your storage quota, or to use the storage service as general-purpose blob hosting unrelated to backing up a vault. We reserve the right to suspend keys or accounts that abuse shared infrastructure, including to protect other users' access to the service. The standalone Acceptable Use Policy is part of these terms.
4. Encryption and your keys
Clawgnition uses client-side, end-to-end encryption. Your data is encrypted on your own machine before it is uploaded, and your encryption keys never leave your machine — we have no way to derive or recover them. This means that if you lose your key, we cannot recover your backup. That is a consequence of end-to-end encryption working as designed, not a service failure, and we will not be able to assist with recovery in that situation.
5. Storage quota and version history
Clawgnition is sold as a storage quota, not a metered service. You choose a storage plan and pay one predictable number for the byte allowance it includes; there is no metered overage on reads, restores, or egress — reading your own data back is always free. Every account shares the same version-history retention schedule: we keep every version for the last 7 days, then a daily version out to 30 days, then a weekly version out to a year, and the newest version is never pruned. There is no plan that buys a longer or shorter retention window — buying more quota increases only the byte allowance. Current storage plans and prices are shown in the dashboard rather than fixed in this document, since they may change during early access.
6. Reads stay open
Restoring your own data out of Clawgnition never incurs an egress charge. Even if your account falls into a degraded state — a repeated payment failure, an open charge dispute, or a paused subscription — your ability to read and export your existing data stays open. A restriction may pause new snapshot writes, but it will not lock you out of the vault you already stored. This is the exit right: you can always take everything out, for free, no matter what state your account is in.
7. Billing
Billing is not yet live; during the private beta, storage is comped and there is no card on file. When billing launches, paid storage plans will be billed through Stripe. You will authorize us to charge your payment method on file for your selected storage plan, per the pricing shown in your dashboard at the time of the charge.
Cancellation, charge corrections, credits, and refunds follow the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
Repeated payment failures or an open charge dispute may freeze new Vault Backup writes while your retained backup reads and restores remain available. Successful payment or resolution of a dispute in your favor restores full service unless a different account restriction still applies.
8. Termination and account deletion
You may delete your account at any time from the dashboard. Deleting your account revokes all associated API keys and schedules deletion of your account data, including any stored snapshots, subject to any minimal retention required for security or (once it launches) billing records. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate Section 3.
9. No warranty
Clawgnition is provided on an "as is" basis during early access. We do not guarantee uptime or availability of any particular feature. Do not rely on Clawgnition as your only copy of data where a storage outage would cause you material harm without a fallback plan of your own.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes during early access. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
